The LVEM5 is controlled through our intuitive user software interface. It allows for monitoring and adjustments to all important microscope parameters. Through the software it is possible to switch seamlessly between all imaging modes. The software can also serve as a virtual keyboard, replicating most of the function of the LVEM5 operating console. Image acquisition in all modes is also carried out by means of LVEM5 software. TEM acquisition module includes FFT and scale bar display for the live image and full control over digital camera variables.
The scientific grade Retiga 4000R Peltier-cooled digital camera from QImaging is our camera of choice for base model LVEM5 sytems, due to its low-light sensitivity and high dynamic range. The Retiga 4000R incorporates Kodak KAI 4021 progressive scan CCD with 2,048 x 2,048 pixel array.
The camera is upgraded to the Zyla 5.5 Scientific CMOS camera from Andor on LVEM5 systems equipped with TEM BOOST. This camera features a high speed and high sensitivity sensor in a light and compact TE cooled design. This ultrasensitive sCMOS camera offers an unparalleled 1.2 electron typical read noise floor, achievable at 30 fps, representing 200MHz pixel readout. For the best CCD cameras to even approach 2 electrons noise, a readout speed of 1MHz or slower is required (0.15 fps).
For image post-processing tasks, LVEM5 software kit includes QCapture Pro software allowing for contrast adjustments, multiple on-image measurements with export function, spatial filtering and other manipulations.
